I will now start posting regularly for the first time in....oh three years.

But since this will all mostly be blather about the Japanese Entertainment industry in general and boybands in particular, I'll be filtering all those posts. Comment if anyone actually wants to be subjected to my verbal diarrhea.

Am so so in Love with the new KAT-TUN single (pun completely and horribly intended). Its like they finally decided to try this whole musical merit thing with KAT -TUN (and consequently Kame's voice has been edited out... rofl)

I can't help but wonder if this has anything to do with that little monthlong competition they had somaisgood mentioned where they pitted Kanjani8, NEWS, and KAT-TUN against each other in the charts.

I'm really curious how they're trying to market JE this season. All going back to stable money making schemes. With NEWS' very news-ish fresh, boy summer song, that they ACTUALLY called summertime and set in a beach house *facepalm* so so blatant. (I am completely in love with it)

And KAT-TUN both going back to their roots (after all of the rock lately) with a rock/hiphop mix that's centered on their dancing and Jin's voice but also trying out a strong K POP influence (in line with the test run on Love? plus recent rising popularity of DBSK with Beautiful You (which actually stayed on no. 1 on Oricon for a decent amt of time))

Also, my playlist slotted in this song next to Kizuna and Gold and when it slid from one song to the next I didn't notice at first, they synced so well. Not to mention the whole rehash of the pirate theme. This is much more like a grown-up version of 2004 KAT-TUN than the debuted KAT-TUN.

I'm really interested to see how JE plans on handling this, and I guess we'll see pretty soon with the dance/costuming/funding/promotion/dvd

I had wondered/worried for a while what they planned on doing with KAT-TUN since there was a bit of time when it seemed they were planning on using them up until they lost all appeal and them chucking them out. But this beseaks you know actual long term planning (maybe worthwhile what with all of the record breaking they keep doing *gasp* boys actually bought Keep the Faith!) with all of the rumors/evidence that JE is trying to build their popularity back up to its raging high immediately after their debut.

esp. with the general focus shifted off heysayjump for the time being (saw the latest pv, can anyone say budget cut?) and a new batch of juniors to promote/weed through (I swear they all just look like little bouncy bobs of hair to me... which one did you say was supposed to be the next Jin?) It would make sense to try to find what will be a reliable strong, long-term moneymaker while you devote resources to nurturing for the future. With rumors of Kinki Kid's flagging popularity, they could be setting up KAT-TUN to take their place in the JE money making hierarchy. Impressive long term planning for an organziation that so often seems a bit dumb in that regards.

Of course, this is all pure speculation from someone who can't even speak Japanese and spends waaay too much of her time studying Japanese pop, so feel free to educate me (*cough* all two of you who will bother to click the cut, tl;dr)

The care, the crafting, the raw human effort – it’s breathtaking. What can I think but that this person would bring exactly this much sincerity and dedication to my service? How can I resist such a passionate entreaty?

But no – am I worthy? Humble dominatrix that I am, am I truly, truly worthy of such painstaking care and towering devotion? Stay your hand, Matisse. Your time to accept such a one as this has not yet come. In fact, it may never come.

I am at peace with that."

For those who aren't familiar with it, that would be sarcasm. I would strongly recommend this down-to-earth blog about Matisse's kinky and non-kinky exploits. It's very amusing, but be warned that it can be very much not-work safe. Also, it can, obviously, be squick-inducing.

Okay so where is this from?

There's a beautiful woman sitting in the grass on a hill (a cliff?) talking to someone (male). She's immortal, and gifted with eternal youth. She's also desperate to get rid of it, and willing to take drastic steps in order to do so. Her companion questions her asking her why she would want that. I mean, it's not like she's Tithonus, immortal but aged and shriveled into a cicada. She has eternal life and youth and beauty. She can't be that bored.

She goes on to explain that her brand of immortality means that her body relives the same day (days?) of her life over and over again.

She's been having a miscarriage every morning for 100 years. (something like this)

Where on earth is this from? I'm thinking "Sandman" or some other comic, but I'm not sure.

Does this sound familiar to anyone?
So... I first sat down to watch this show with the expectation that it would suck, horribly. I mean its a "ugly" girl from Queens going to work for a handsome, playboy who just got put in charge of daddy's fashion magazine. It sounded like all kinds of cliches.

But I was really surprised, in a VERY GOOD way.

It has *layers* and continuity. And there's no quick make-over fix. All of the characters, even the most seemingly vapid ones, have some sort of depth. . Best of all it looks like Betty is a solid three-dimensional character who won't be knocking boots with her boss any time show. For a show based on a tele-novel, soap opera, it's really amazingly good.

Also, I think Daniel is just adorable.

If you're bored and killing time, check it out. Its available for free on abc.com

So, I've managed to get myself in charge of managing volunteers for this university event my RSO is planning.

I"m 6 volunteers short on one shift which is ridiculous since i have more than enough on the others.

Ugh, i've gone through all the stages: anger, desperation, bargaining, and right back out to apathy. I give up. I think people are now afraid of talking to me because the know that i'll ask them to volunteer. Mine is a sad sad life.

On the bright side, next event we need volunteers for is ages away AND my co-chair will deal with it.

still, its sad that my sense of self-worth is now determined by whether someone will volunteer or not. i need a cat.

For some reason I'm in an obscenely good mood today. I really can't explain. It could be that my most difficult student was sweet as pie all through his session and cutely enthusiatic about his new school, which I was afraid he would hate. Or it could be that my boss in an explicably hilarious turn of events has managed to get every single time for every single one of my students wrong by at least 1/2 hr. Meaning of course that I have to rearrange my entire schedule. Why do I find this so amusing?

Probably the drugs.

Also, chthonicsiren Unless you got hit by a car between hanging up and plugging in your phone, you are dead meat walking.
